Recent research conducted by TIVO has found that Netflix subscribers are watching just as much traditional TV as non-subscribers. This goes against some beliefs that Netflix and streaming services like Netflix, including Hulu, Amazon Instant Video, etc. would be the downfall of cable and traditional television viewing. The lack of significant difference between Netflix subscribed houses and unsubscribed households in amount of television watched is a good sign for cable companies, as right now this research shows that Netflix is not a replacement for television, but rather another way to enrich their television viewing experience.
So what do you think? Do you think streaming services like Netflix will continue to only be another way to watch television? Or do you think that eventually, streaming services will take over and become the primary way to watch television?
